Most Popular “Must Have” Features of New Models
By 2035, all new vehicles in the US will be electric. Think that seems ambitious? Maybe it’s been a while since you’ve purchased a new car.
Advancements are being made, doubling, or tripling the efficiency of the previous generation of vehicles. Almost all Toyota vehicles have hybrid counterparts, making minimal sacrifices while ensuring maximum efficiency.
But fuel efficiency is just the surface of what these 2021 models have to offer. Of the new models at Universal Toyota dealership, check out these high-tech, popular features that everyone is raving about.
Popular Features
The Toyota Camry turns 37 this year. That’s 37 years of advancement and progress packed into one great car.
And advancements come in the form of options.
The 2021 Camry has three V6 engine grades, five 4-cylinder FWD grades, five 4-cylinder AWD grades, and four hybrid options (the XSE, our premium option, is brand new). Each 2021 hybrid has also lowered its starting price by $1,200.
Toyota has further extended its line of hybrids. This year, the 2021 Sienna, the highly-rated minivan, has gotten that upgrade as well.
With an electric drive motor, it rocks 36 mpg on average for city and highway driving. Need all-wheel drive? That number drops to only 35 mpg.
With great gas mileage on top of the 245 horsepower, this minivan gets you where you’re going and without needing a pitstop every few hours.
Enhanced Security
As one of the tried and true vehicles in Toyota’s arsenal, the Camry is one of the first Toyota’s to debut the new Safety Sense 2.5+.
What’s new in Safety Sense 2.5+? To start, Automatic Emergency Braking is back and tighter than ever. The Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection has also been upgraded, surveying the entire scene before you can.
It’s been upgraded to work better in busy intersections, offering audio/visual warnings when necessary, and utilizing those enhanced Automatic Emergency Brakes when needed.
The Toyota Highlander debuted with the new Rear Seat Reminder, also coming to Camry’s this year. Rear Seat Reminder indicates when a rear door was opened within 10 minutes of the car being started.
Road Sign Assist has also come a long way. On the dashboard certain signs will display, notifying the driver of the changed speed limit and warning signs as soon as you pass by it.
Better, More Comfortable Driving
Toyota has continued to work on its Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Now it’s better at smoothly overtaking slower vehicles.
For example, when the vehicle detects it’s behind another vehicle and the driver hits the turn signal, the vehicle will smoothly accelerate to get back up to the preset speed.
The 2021 Sienna offers both seven or eight-seat cabin configurations but offers plenty of space for everyone. The rear row can be stowed, allowing the second row of seats to slide back and forth on an extended track with ease.
This year’s Toyota RAV4 has improved suspension for better steering, drive, and rideability. The premium line of RAV4s offers a power moonroof and leatherette upholstery.
There’s even an Off-Road model for those who embrace the bumpy trails. It comes with a steel front skid plate and a superior suspension system as well.
And the RAV4 Prime is now a plug-in hybrid, boasting 42 miles of electric-only range, on top of 302 horsepower. And all the other benefits mentioned above.
High Tech Vehicles
All 2021 Camry models received a new, floating multimedia screen that, depending on the model, is 7″ or 9″. You’ve got access to your maps, music, and more from this slick-looking touchscreen.
While most vehicles still have upgradeable audio tech, the base Sienna comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Plus, there’s a whopping seven USB ports. That’s one for every passenger! Suddenly your biggest challenge driving is who’s going to pick the music.
And how could we neglect to mention the Prius, the vehicle that started the movement for more fuel-efficient vehicles? At a merged 52 MPG city and highway, this car continues the path on the path towards savings at the pump.
Now the Prius has a Power Control Unit, letting the Prius operate exclusively on battery power in situations where gas isn’t necessary. Smart-Flow helps with this, directing air only to seated occupants in the vehicle.
The signature design has once again sharpened, producing a 0.24 coefficient of drag, even lower than before. It offers hands-free Bluetooth, as many of its kin, on top of six booming speakers for when the drive is extra long.
All About Trucks
When it comes to trucks, there’s both the midsize Tacoma and the heavyweight, Toyota Tundra.
While a full-electric model is a ways off, in the past few years, these trucks have increased their MPG a tick or two and added premium options to boot.
Each Tundra model includes a 7 or 8-inch touchscreen for infotainment. That means Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Google Voice, and Amazon Alexa are all here.
Higher trim levels will grant you access to premium sound, like a 12-speaker JBL sound system that pumps up any long drive. Expect larger wheels and interior leather as bonuses to those later trim levels.
One notable trim level is the “Nightshade Edition,” offering a perfectly dark leather interior. It’s a gorgeous addition to an already terrifying beast of a truck.
The Toyota Tacoma, meanwhile offers a TRD Off-Road level which comes with Bilstein shocks. It takes hard bumps and turns without issue and is as much fun out in the hills as it is driving to work.
