Buyers’ Guide to the 2024 Toyota Prius

August 28th, 2023 by

Are you thinking about buying the 2024 Prius? We've got a guide that'll walk you through all the specs. Keep reading to learn more.

Many assume that the Toyota Prius was the first hybrid car, but here’s a surprise: the first one was built before 1900, and it was thanks to Viennese coach builder Jacob Lohner. His Elektromobil paved the way for smarter vehicles, such as the Prius.

Fast forward 100 years, and Toyota created this iconic hybrid car, which has taken the world by storm. It’s now in its fifth generation, and it’s a top contender for many car owners.

Are you interested in the Toyota hybrid? Then read on for a brief buyers’ guide to the 2024 Prius.

Why Is the Toyota Prius Famous?

The Toyota Prius is famous because it was one of the first mass-produced hybrid vehicles to hit the market. It represented a breakthrough in automotive technology since it combined a gas engine with an electric motor.

The result? Significantly improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.

And the 2001 Toyota Prius couldn’t have come at a better time. North America suffered a natural gas crisis from 2000 to 2008, which drove up gas prices dramatically. Americans softened the blow on their wallets and opted for the vehicle that’d get amazing MPG (miles per gallon).

What Is the Prius Prime?

The Prius Prime is similar to the regular Prius, but with one key difference: it’s a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).

This car has a larger battery pack that can be charged from an external power source. In addition, it has an extended all-electric driving range of around 25 to 30 miles on a full charge. This means that it has improved fuel efficiency.

Is the Prius a Good Car?

When compared to traditional gas-only vehicles, the Prius is definitely a good car. It alleviates some of our reliance on fossil fuel, which is a finite resource that’s quickly dwindling.

However, numerous electric vehicles (EVs) are coming out, which have no dependence on gas at all. These can be expensive though, so hybrids such as the Prius are a great middle-ground for people on a limited budget.

2024 Toyota Prius Overview

There won’t be too many drastic changes to the 2024 Prius when compared to the 2023 model, which was a full redesign from previous ones. Expect both the new Prius interior and exterior to remain the same.

You should also see the same powertrain options: a 2.0L four-cylinder engine and a single electric motor for 194 HP with front-wheel drive, and a second electric motor on the rear wheels for 196 HP.

Plus, Toyota revealed the GR Prius. This is the sportier version of the vehicle.

Production for the new Toyota Prius will begin this summer, so expect to see it for sale by the end of 2023.

The 2024 Prius isn’t quite ready for purchase yet, but it’s certainly one to keep an eye out for. With its stylish looks and fantastic MPG, it’s an excellent vehicle to buy, especially if you don’t have a huge budget.
